ODGroup Launches New Majors Division

Paving the way for growth

ODGroup is 20 this year and we’re looking ahead; strategically putting plans in place, investing in the business and building on the foundations of an initial 20 years of success as a commercial fit out company.

‘We’re at an exciting moment in time as a business’ says Managing Director, Jon Kearney. ‘Our expertise are expanding, our client base is growing, and with this comes opportunity. We want to continue doing what we do well, delivering great office spaces for our clients, and so to keep up with demand, we’ve taken new steps to enhance our offering.’

‘We’ve listened to the market and have invested in a new major projects division. Heading up office fit outs of up to £40M and leading the team is Marcus Brooman and Steve Talbot, both renowned in the industry and set to drive evolution within the company, and no doubt beyond.’

Marcus joins ODGroup with over 25 years as an office fit-out contractor and over ten years heading up a major projects team – managing a division of over 80 people, from CAT A refurbishments to high-end CAT B fit-outs. Marcus knows the London market, and has delivered projects for household names including BT, RBS and Spotify, with budgets of up to £70M in value.

‘We can make a real difference to the growth of ODGroup, it’s really exciting .’ Says Marcus. ‘We want to sustainably grow as a division, to employ good people and build an excellent team around us. Our ultimate goal is to have a reliable supply chain and position ourselves as a trusted delivery partner in the traditional fit out industry.’

Steve, also with over 25 years in the industry, knows what it takes to run a profit-making majors division. Having headed up his own teams, delivering projects of over £30M in value, he has a holistic view of what it takes to be the go-to in his sector. He knows how to listen to his clients and offer that personal service that is often overlooked in the wider industry.

‘We’re looking at a blank canvas and we want to use it to create something original and innovative.’ Steve adds. ‘This is an opportunity to build a reputation and deliver a service that is different to the big corporates we’re up against. We want to bring it back to what’s important, our clients, and working with them to deliver projects we can be proud of.’

With their combined 60 years in the industry, Marcus and Steve are ready to bring their expertise to the fore. Looking to build from the ground up, the pair can draw on their extensive experience and apply this to create something that not only complements the existing divisions within ODInteriors, but also the other arms to the business; ODCreate and ODWorks, building on the reputation the company already has when it comes to being a reliable contractor.

‘Already we’re looking ahead, assessing the next 18 months, looking for opportunities to enhance our offering and meet industry demand. Along with Steve, I believe we can offer a personable, agile and credible service, one that speaks for itself.’ States Marcus.

Having already won their first contract, a £17M CAT B commercial fit out project in the City, the team is practicing what they preach. Working closely with the client, they’re able to offer first-hand support, creating a personal experience that aims to not only fulfil the client’s needs but to forge a long-term relationship, instilling confidence that ODGroup will remain on-hand for any future requirements.

Giving direct access to senior team members is something Steve is keen to offer clients going forward – ‘we want to be a trusted partner, to listen to our clients and not dictate how each project is to be delivered, the key is to offer a flexible service, one that is considered and engaging.’

This division marks the beginning of a new chapter for ODGroup. By integrating this extensive level of expertise with the company’s latest innovations, including becoming a fully digital contractor, while advancing key initiatives like our 2024 ESG Strategy, the goal is to not just meet but surpass market expectations.

And that is exactly what Marcus and Steve plan to do, redefine the way projects of this size and scale are delivered by generating an affinity with their clientele, that in turn builds a reputation of integrity, credibility and reliability.

‘It’s a real positive step for us to have Marcus and Steve on board,’ finishes Jon, ‘I know they will be an asset to the company and in the delivery of our projects. Their wealth of experience will undoubtedly help drive ODGroup’s progress as we grow as a business.’
