ODGroup breakout space with kitchen and collaboration area

Our culture

At ODGroup, we believe that a great workplace is about more than just the work—it’s about the people, the culture, and the experiences we share.

From our quarterly meetings that keep everyone connected and aligned, to our volunteer days where we give back to the community, we make sure there’s plenty of purpose beyond the projects.

We also know how to have a good time—whether it’s staff socials, team-building activities, or our legendary ski trips, there’s always something to look forward to.

It’s this mix of collaboration, celebration, and camaraderie that makes ODGroup a genuinely fun and rewarding place to be.

Early careers

We’re committed to developing the next generation of industry talent through our early career opportunities. Our trainee programmes provide a structured pathway into roles including commercial, technical, and construction management disciplines, combining hands-on project experience with tailored mentoring and support.

We actively encourage and enable trainees to work towards professional qualifications, ensuring they gain both the practical skills and academic credentials needed to progress confidently in their chosen field.

“Since joining ODGroup, I have felt genuinely welcomed and supported at every stage of my journey to becoming a Trainee Commercial Manager. The encouragement and guidance from colleagues have been invaluable in helping me learn and develop in my role.

I’ve gained exposure to many aspects of the business, giving me a well-rounded perspective of the fit-out industry and a clear understanding of the values ODGroup upholds in every project. I’m looking forward to continuing to build my skills and contribute to the company’s success in the years ahead.”

– Dennis O-Shea, Trainee Commercial Manager

By investing in early careers, we not only build the capabilities of our people but also strengthen the future of our business and the wider industry.

Charity

Every year the company selects a charity to support voted for from a longlist suggested by our team.

We spend the year raising money and awareness for our chosen cause through various activities and events organised throughout the year, ranging from raffles to major physical challenges.

The pinnacle of which is our annual long distance walk connecting all our live construction sites, which we have aptly named the ODGroup Site-to-site walk.

In 2024 our Site-to-site walk saw 32 members of the team walk 31km from Tottenham Court Road through Whitechapel to our final stop near Liverpool Street Station.

And we’re so proud of the team who helped raised an incredible £10,000 for Whitechapel Mission.

Quarterly updates and socials

Our quarterly updates are open to anyone who wants to contribute — from directors to marketing, HR to estimating.

They’re an opportunity for people across the business to share what they’ve been working on, highlight achievements, and give others a window into their part of the business.

It’s also a chance to gain insight into the work happening behind the scenes, building appreciation for the skills and contributions that keep our projects and company moving forward.

These quarterly updates are followed by fun social events that bring the team together outside of work. Over the past year, we’ve enjoyed pub quizzes, games nights, and a summer party with lawn bowls, as well as a festive Christmas celebration with exclusive use of Terra restaurant at Eataly.

Volunteer days

Each member of the ODGroup team receives one volunteer day per year to use in any way they choose, supporting causes and communities that matter most to them.

For those who prefer to get involved alongside colleagues, we also organise group volunteering days throughout the year.

Last year’s activities included working with Leaves Breathe and lending a hand at Hackney City Farm, offering a chance to make a difference while connecting with the team outside the usual work environment.

Annual ski trip

The ODGroup annual ski trip to Austria is a highlight of our social calendar, bringing the team together for a few days of fresh mountain air, crisp slopes, and après-ski fun. It’s a chance to unwind, try something new (or show off your skills), and enjoy quality time with colleagues away from the office — all set against the stunning backdrop of the Austrian Alps.

The book nook

The book nook is our dedicated space for sharing great reads, from inspiring industry insights to intriguing fiction the nook is stocked with books recommended by the team.

Sponsorship support

We actively support our team’s personal charitable endeavours throughout the year, promoting their initiatives across our network and contributing to their chosen causes.

Great City Race

A team of us took part in the Great City Race 5K this July — a unique event where the City shuts down for runners of all abilities, whether you’re in it to compete or simply enjoy a casual jog at your own pace. Starting at the HAC, it was especially fun for us to swap our usual HQ view from Chiswell Street for a ground-level perspective, soaking up the atmosphere of this renowned event.
