ODCreate has delivered a CAT B design and build project for a trading strategy consultancy. The L-shaped building required a complete restructure as the commercial space was originally open-plan and did not meet the clients needs for partitioned offices.
As well as cellular work stations, the team were tasked with creating the reception area, collaboration spaces, meeting rooms, and a kitchen area.
The brief was to create a modern office space with a twist. A company that prides itself on being different to a traditional consultancy, the client wanted to incorporate playful elements that represents the energetic nature of its culture, whilst maintaining an element of conservative professionalism throughout.
And so, ODCreate developed an elegant interior consisting of warm, natural tones injected with a pop of colour, as well as elements of biophilic design.

The process
This was a complex project that required sectional completion. Beginning with the cellular offices – each compartment required partitions, doors and glazing, with privacy being paramount due to the nature of the work individuals carry out. Consideration was paid to the sloped ceilings as they presented challenges when it came to the layout and desk positioning within the individual workspaces.
Clean lines and simple design created a timeless look and feel throughout, with light wooden doors and black frames defining each capsule office, creating the modern aesthetic the client was looking for.
The reception area required a residential feel with a nod to a corporate environment. The team achieved this by employing considered integrated lighting, soft furnishings, as well as a feature planted wall to promote a sense of calm.
The meeting rooms were to be light with an injection of colour, bringing through the playful element outlined in the brief. This was brought to the fore with statement walls and bright furniture as well as fabric wrapped folding walls that allow for full utilisation of the space.
Acoustics were also an important portion of the brief from the client, as they needed to maintain privacy in each workspace, as well as in larger meeting rooms. As a result, acoustic feature walls were employed throughout the office, with exposed ceilings holding integrated acoustic baffles to absorb sound as well as provide a design element for the room.
Challenges
It was a complex site with many fit-out contractors working on other floors of the building, providing a logistical challenge. Access had to be scheduled, with permits needing to be organised ahead of time to allow for the delivery of materials.
Collaboration
The ODCreate team worked successfully with the client, collaborating with their internal teams both UK based and internationally. There were also external consultants included in the project that we worked alongside to deliver the desired end result, including mechanical and electrical, AV, quantity surveyor, as well as project management teams.
