ProjectDIVERT at Fleet Place House
We’re proud to have completed our first donation via ProjectDIVERT, working with Encore Environment on Project Heron at Fleet Place House where we are working to deliver two CAT A floors, a fully refurbished the reception area, and new end-of-journey facilities.
The Project Heron team donated sofas and carpet, previously in the Fleet Place House reception and still in excellent condition to Free@Last charity and 250 carpet tiles that were used in office spaces throughout the building to the private housing department of West Thurrock Council.
Reuse of materials and reduction of waste has been a key part of delivering Project Heron in conjunction with the project’s BREEAM ‘Very Good’ assessment. We have sought to lower the impact of project delivery, working with Encore Environment to divert waste from landfill whilst also generating social value. ProjectDIVERT is a unique database that connects project teams with accredited recyclers and reprocessors, as well as local-to-site schools, charities and social enterprises that may have use for materials and furniture.
Rachel Rowley, Managing Director at Encore Environment said: “We are delighted that ProjectDIVERT aligned the surplus furniture to Free@Last. They provide a variety of opportunities for children and young people from advice, enterprise, and therapy to equip them to be resilient and independent through times in their lives. ODGroup has been an Encore client for around four years and has always engaged our waste management services early in the project, so all opportunities for reuse and diversion are successfully actioned!”
Jozefa Lewis, ODGroup Sustainability and Wellbeing Manager said, “We are so pleased with the success of our first implementation of ProjectDIVERT, As with all our projects we aim to reduce waste and ensure diversion from landfill. ProjectDIVERT has been a fantastic resource in connecting us with those who can give furniture and finishes a new life and purpose’
We anticipate that we’ll be using ProjectDIVERT wherever possible on our projects in the future.
